Our 3-Night Test at Walt Disney World
If you’ve ever planned a Walt Disney World vacation, chances are you’ve asked the big question:
Is the Disney Dining Plan actually worth it?
At DizN Vacations with Jessica Yashin, we don’t just guess—we test it ourselves. 🎢
So, during a recent 3-night stay, KC and I put the Standard Disney Dining Plan to the test to find out:
👉 Can you actually beat the cost of the plan?
What We Paid for the Disney Dining Plan
For our 3-night stay (2 adults), we added the Standard Disney Dining Plan to our package for:
➡️ $591.54 total
This included, per person, per night:
- 1 Quick Service Meal
- 1 Table Service Meal
- 1 Snack
- 1 Resort Refillable Mug
Let’s Talk About the Refillable Mug
Before we even started eating, we picked up our resort refillable mugs:
- $22.99 each (x2) = $45.98 value
These mugs include unlimited refills of coffee, tea, and fountain beverages at Disney Resort hotels (not in the parks).
👉 We averaged about 2 drinks per day each, so this added solid value if you actually use them.
Day 1 – Snacks, Quick Service & Southern Comfort
We kicked things off at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter:
- Mickey Beignets (3-pack) – $8.47 (1 snack credit)
Then headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom:

- Chicken Caprese Sandwich + drink (split) – (Quick Service Credit)– $13.29
- Carrot Cake Sundae – $9.53 (1 snack credit)
✔️Pro tip: breakfast is the least expensive meal across property. We opted to purchase bagels and coffee in room to save our credits for lunch or dinner.
Table Service Dinner – Boatwright’s Dining Hall
Dinner at our home resort, Port Orleans Riverside, delivered BIG value: Table service credits include an entree, a dessert and a beverage (can be alcoholic for guests 21 years of age and older).

Jessica:
- Char-Grilled Butcher Steak – $44.00
- Hibiscus Spritz – $17.50
- Peanut Butter Pie – $9.00
KC:
- Taste of the Bayou Platter – $38.00
- Hurricane – $16.50
- Bourbon Chocolate Cake – $12.00
👉 Dinner’s total with tax: $145.22
Day 2 – EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival Strategy
Festival booths are a hidden gem for snack credits—but strategy matters.
We used snack credits on:
- Croissant au Fromage – $8.25 (shared)
- Tarte aux Oignons – $8.25 (shared)
- Lemon Tarte – $5.29 (shared)
👉 Tip: Look for the purple and white “DDP” symbol on menus.
👉 Pro Tip: Not all snacks are equal—aim for items in the $8–$9 range for maximum value.
If a possible snack credit falls below the $7 range- pay out of pocket. There are many possible “snack” credits to avoid, for example, a cup of coffee could be charged as a snack credit. Be aware of what is being charged to your dining plan. Our Lemon Tarte snack credit was a mistake!
Quick Service in EPCOT
- Margherita Pizza slice + Bellini – $25.44 (shared)
Table Service Hack – Dining Package
We used our table service credits for the Garden Rocks Concert Dining Package. The Dining packages for festivals and Fantasmic include an entree, dessert and beverage (both non and alcoholic).

- Chefs de France – $81.00 per person
👉 Bonus: Reserved seating for the concert in the America Pavilion!
😔Unfortunately it down poured during what would have been the concert. We left without enjoying our reserved seating.
Day 3 – Hollywood Studios Hacks
Quick Service Meals:
- Zucchini Wrap + Tatooine Sunset – $21.18 (shared)
- Chicken Parmesan & Meatball Sandwiches + drinks – $39.92

Snack:
- Wookie Cookie – $7.94 (shared)
Final Day – Last Credits
Quick Service:
- Grilled Chicken Sandwich + fries + drink – $19.91
Final Table Service – Rose & Crown Dining Room
Jessica:
- Cottage Pie
- Harp Lager
- Eaton Mess
KC:
- Fish & Chips
- Leaping Leprechaun
- Sticky Toffee Pudding
👉 Dinner’s total with tax: $116.07
Did We Beat the Disney Dining Plan?
YES… we did. 🎉
When we added up everything we ate (including tax), the total value exceeded the $591.54 we paid.
🤔 But Here’s the Honest Truth…
Even though we technically beat the plan…
👉 It felt like a LOT of food.
With multiple table service meals, we found ourselves eating more than we normally would.
In our everyday park style:
- We typically share an appetizer and an entrée
- Disney portions are very generous
So the dining plan encouraged us to order more than we usually would.
💡 Our #1 Disney Dining Plan Hack
If you take one tip from this entire experience, let it be this:
👉 Use 2 Quick Service Credits for a FULL pizza instead of 2 slices
It’s one of the easiest ways to maximize value—and it’s perfect for sharing!
👍 What We Loved
✔️ The convenience of having meals prepaid
✔️ Trying new restaurants and experiences
✔️ Built-in structure for meals
✔️ Great value when used strategically
⚖️ Final Verdict
The Disney Dining Plan is:
👉 NOT designed to save you money
👉 DESIGNED for convenience
It’s priced based on the higher end of what guests might spend.
But…
✨ If you plan smart, choose higher-value items, and use a few key hacks…
👉 You absolutely can beat it.
