1. Walt Disney World Vacations Open Far in Advance
Walt Disney World typically releases vacation packages for the following calendar year in spring or early summer. That means 2026 Disney World vacations opened April 2025.
And here’s what makes that powerful:
- Disney only requires a $200 per room deposit to secure your reservation.
- You can make payments at your own pace.
- Your vacation must be paid in full 30 days before check-in.
That long booking window gives you something incredibly valuable — time.
Time to budget.

Time to plan dining, Lightning Lanes, and resort strategy intentionally.
Instead of paying for a vacation in a compressed window, you can spread payments out over many months — sometimes well over a year.
2. Universal Orlando Also Rewards Early Planners
Operating on a slightly shorter booking timeline, Universal Orlando Resort typically opens reservations around 13 months in advance.
Universal requires:
- $50 per person deposit
- Final payment due 45 days before check-in
While the booking window isn’t quite as long as Disney’s, you still gain months of financial flexibility by reserving early — especially for popular travel seasons.
3. Booking Early Locks in Pricing
This is one of the most overlooked benefits of early Disney and Universal vacation planning.
When you book a room and ticket package, you lock in current pricing. So sooner rather than later is the best time to start planning your 2027 Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando vacation.
If pricing increases (and it often does), your existing reservation is protected.
Disney, in particular, has historically increased pricing multiple times per year — commonly around twice annually. Waiting can mean:
- Higher room rates
- Higher ticket pricing
- Reduced package value

5. Early Booking = Better Resort Selection
One of the biggest differences I see between early planners and late planners?
Resort choice.
When you begin planning your Disney World or Universal Orlando vacation early, you have access to:
- Preferred room views
- Ideal room locations
- Popular family suites
- Convenient transportation access
- Resorts that may sell out during promotions
As the booking window narrows, options shrink.
When options shrink, flexibility shrinks.
And that’s when planning starts to feel stressful.
6. More Time to Strategize the Experience
Early booking isn’t just about money — it’s about strategy.
