Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is obviously known for castles, characters, classic attractions, and plenty of Disney nostalgia. But eventually, every Magic Kingdom day comes down to one very important question:
Where are we going to eat?
Fortunately, you have plenty of choices.
From family-style feasts and character dining to themed restaurants and classic comfort food, Magic Kingdom has dining options that can be just as much a part of your Disney day as the attractions.
I’ve narrowed down my Top 5 Restaurants at Magic Kingdom based on the overall dining experience, food, atmosphere, theming, and what I think makes each one worth your time.
And, as always, this is my personal list. Your family’s perfect Disney meal might look completely different—and that’s okay!

1. Liberty Tree Tavern — My Pick for a Classic Disney Feast
Located in Liberty Square, Liberty Tree Tavern transports you back to colonial America with a cozy, historic setting and a family-style meal that feels like a Thanksgiving dinner without actually having to wait until November.
The all-you-care-to-enjoy feast features familiar favorites like turkey, pot roast, mashed potatoes and other traditional American dishes.
And sometimes familiar is exactly what you want after a morning of running from attraction to attraction.
The theming is fun without being over-the-top, and the family-style format makes this a particularly good choice when you’re looking for a substantial sit-down meal.
Jessica’s Take
This is comfort food with a side of Disney nostalgia.
I like Liberty Tree Tavern when I want to sit down, slow down, and actually enjoy a meal. It’s hearty, filling and completely different from grabbing another quick-service meal while you’re racing across the park.
If you’re traveling with a group with different tastes, this is also an easy choice because everyone is getting a little bit of everything.
Why I recommend it: A fun combination of atmosphere, comfort food and a true sit-down break from the park.
2. The Plaza Restaurant — My Pick for Classic Comfort Food
At the end of Main Street, U.S.A., you’ll find The Plaza Restaurant, a charming spot with views toward Cinderella Castle and a menu filled with familiar favorites.
Think burgers, sandwiches, salads, comfort-food entrées and—you guessed it—milkshakes.
It’s also one of those restaurants that can easily fit into your Magic Kingdom day without feeling like a huge production.
And if you’re a fan of dessert, don’t overlook the location. The restaurant sits right next to Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, making it very tempting to save room for something sweet.
Jessica’s Take
Sometimes I don’t want to be adventurous. I just want a good burger and a milkshake.
The Plaza is one of those restaurants I like because it doesn’t try too hard. It’s comfortable, familiar and right in the middle of everything.
It’s also a nice option when you want a table-service meal but don’t necessarily want to spend a huge portion of your day on a more elaborate dining experience.
Why I recommend it: Great location, familiar food and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Main Street.
3. Be Our Guest Restaurant — My Pick for the Atmosphere
Step inside Beast’s castle in Fantasyland and you’ll find one of the most recognizable dining experiences in Magic Kingdom: Be Our Guest Restaurant.
The restaurant features three distinct dining rooms inspired by Beauty and the Beast, including the stunning ballroom with its enormous chandeliers and snowy views outside the windows.
The setting is undeniably the star here.
The menu offers French-inspired dishes, and the prix-fixe format makes this a more substantial dining experience than a typical Magic Kingdom meal.
And yes, there’s even a little something called the “grey stuff.”
Jessica’s Take
You don’t book Be Our Guest because you’re looking for the cheapest meal in Magic Kingdom. You book it because you want the experience.
Walking into Beast’s castle is one of those Disney moments that feels completely different from simply sitting down at a restaurant.
If Beauty and the Beast is a favorite in your family—or if you simply love immersive Disney theming—this is one I’d consider.
Just know what you’re booking. This is a prix-fixe experience, so I recommend looking at the menu before making your reservation to make sure it fits what you’re looking for.
Why I recommend it: The atmosphere. The castle. The details. This is one of those Disney restaurants where the setting is a big part of the meal.
4. Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen — My Pick for Adventurous Eaters
If you’re looking for something a little different, head into Adventureland and find Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen.
Inspired by the Jungle Cruise and the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, Skipper Canteen combines imaginative theming with a menu that takes you well beyond typical theme park fare.
You’ll find flavors inspired by Africa, Asia and South America, along with dishes for guests who may not be quite as adventurous.
And don’t rush through this restaurant.
The theming is part of the experience, and there are plenty of details to discover throughout the dining rooms.
Jessica’s Take
This is the restaurant I’d recommend when you want to try something new.
Skipper Canteen is exactly the kind of Disney dining experience I enjoy because it gives you an opportunity to step outside your normal choices.
You don’t have to be an adventurous eater to enjoy it, either. There are familiar options mixed in with the more unusual dishes.
Take your time. Look around. Read the names and stories. Notice the details.
Why I recommend it: Great food, great theming and the opportunity to make your meal part of the adventure.

5. The Crystal Palace — My Pick for Character Dining
Right on Main Street, U.S.A., The Crystal Palace is one of Magic Kingdom’s most recognizable dining locations.
The bright, Victorian-inspired setting is home to a buffet-style meal and, most importantly for many families, visits from Winnie the Pooh and his friends.
It’s a classic Disney character dining experience that works particularly well for families who want to combine a meal with character interactions.
Jessica’s Take
If Winnie the Pooh and friends are a priority for your family, this one belongs on your list.
I love the idea of combining two things you’re already trying to fit into your Magic Kingdom day—eating and meeting characters.
The buffet also gives everyone plenty of choices, which can be helpful when you’re traveling with a group of different ages and tastes.
And there’s something pretty fun about walking down Main Street, U.S.A., toward Cinderella Castle and knowing you’re about to have breakfast, lunch or dinner with Pooh and his friends.
Why I recommend it: Character dining, lots of food choices and a classic Magic Kingdom atmosphere.

Magic Kingdom Dining Is Part of the Experience
Magic Kingdom isn’t just a place to check attractions off your list. It’s a place to slow down, take in the details, enjoy a meal and make some memories along the way. And that’s why I always encourage my clients to think about where they want to eat—not just what they want to ride.
Maybe you want a Thanksgiving-style feast at Liberty Tree Tavern. Perhaps you want a milkshake at The Plaza. Maybe stepping inside Beast’s castle is on your Disney bucket list, or you’re ready to try something completely different at Skipper Canteen.
Or maybe meeting Pooh is just as important to your family as riding Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
There’s no single “right” way to do Magic Kingdom.
My biggest recommendation? Don’t be afraid to try something new. Some of my favorite Disney memories have come from restaurants or experiences that weren’t necessarily part of my usual routine.
