If you’re staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort or Disney Vacation Club Villa, you may have access to one of the most valuable perks at Walt Disney World: Extended Evening Hours. This benefit allows eligible guests to stay in select parks for two extra hours after regular park closing. The result? Lower crowds, shorter wait times, and a completely different park experience.
But are Disney Extended Evening Hours really worth your time?
After experiencing both EPCOT and Magic Kingdom during Extended Evening Hours, our answer is a resounding yes.

Check out our latest video from KC’s Corner Views as we take you inside both EPCOT and Magic Kingdom during Extended Evening Hours. You’ll see the crowds, the wait times, and our honest thoughts about whether this Deluxe Resort benefit is worth your time.
What Are Disney Extended Evening Hours?
Extended Evening Hours are offered on select nights at select Walt Disney World theme parks. Guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts and Disney Vacation Club Villas can remain in the park for up to two additional hours after the official park closing time.
Unlike Early Theme Park Entry, which is available to all Disney Resort guests and select “Good Neighbor” hotels, Extended Evening Hours are limited to a much smaller group of visitors.
That smaller crowd makes a big difference.
Why Extended Evening Hours Are So Popular
Most guests don’t use Extended Evening Hours to ride attractions that already have short wait times during the day. Instead, they use this time to experience Disney World’s most popular attractions.
At EPCOT, this may include:
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- Test Track
- Frozen Ever After
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

At Magic Kingdom, popular options often include:
- TRON Lightcycle / Run
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Space Mountain
- Haunted Mansion
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
These attractions frequently post some of the longest waits during regular park hours. Extended Evening Hours provide a chance to experience them with significantly lower wait times.
The Wait Times Are Real
One of the biggest misconceptions about Extended Evening Hours is that attractions become walk-ons. That isn’t always true. However, wait times are often dramatically lower than they were earlier in the day. During our visit to EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was posting a wait of approximately 75 minutes during regular park hours.
During Extended Evening Hours, that wait dropped to about 25 minutes. That’s a substantial difference and a much more efficient use of your vacation time.
A Better Touring Experience
Lower wait times aren’t the only advantage. Extended Evening Hours also allow guests to experience Walt Disney World after the sun goes down. If you’ve visited Florida during spring, summer, or early fall, you know how intense the heat and humidity can be. Touring at night can be much more comfortable.

You’ll spend less time battling the heat and more time enjoying the attractions. The atmosphere is also completely different. Walking through Magic Kingdom late at night with smaller crowds can feel almost surreal. During our visit, parts of Frontierland felt nearly empty. That’s not something you experience often at Walt Disney World.
What Isn’t Open During Extended Evening Hours?
When planning your evening, it’s important to focus on what matters most. Not every attraction, restaurant, or shop remains open during Extended Evening Hours. Many dining locations close before the event begins. At EPCOT, festival booths are not typically operating during Extended Evening Hours.
Some attractions may also be unavailable due to maintenance, weather, or operational decisions. That’s why we recommend focusing your time on the attractions that are usually difficult to experience during the day. Don’t spend your precious two hours chasing attractions that rarely have long waits. Use this time strategically.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Extended Evening Hours are a fantastic benefit, but they aren’t foolproof. Florida weather can impact attraction operations. Thunderstorms are common, especially during the summer months. Technical issues can also occur at any time. Because of this, we never recommend relying solely on Extended Evening Hours to experience a must-do attraction.
If riding Guardians, TRON, or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a top priority, purchase that Lightning Lane Single Pass during regular park hours. Think of Extended Evening Hours as a bonus opportunity rather than your only opportunity.
Are Disney Extended Evening Hours Worth It?
Absolutely.
If you’re staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort or Disney Vacation Club Villa and Extended Evening Hours are offered during your vacation, we strongly recommend taking advantage of them.
The benefits include:
- Lower wait times
- Smaller crowds
- Cooler temperatures
- Easier transportation at the end of the night
- Access to Disney’s most popular attractions
- No need to purchase Lightning Lane access during the event
The trade-off is that not every attraction, restaurant, or entertainment offering will be available. For most guests, that’s a trade worth making. After all, attractions like PeopleMover, Living with the Land, and Journey Into Imagination rarely have long waits during the day. TRON, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train are a different story.
