If there’s one must-do ride in Universal Orlando’s brand-new Epic Universe theme park, it’s Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. This thrilling new addition to the Wizarding World plunges you into the heart of a magical showdown, using state-of-the-art ride systems and immersive storytelling.

But as expected, it draws some of the longest lines in the entire park. On our recent visit, we discovered the secret to riding Battle at the Ministry without wasting valuable park time waiting in that long line—and I’m excited to share it with you.
Step One: Stay On Property at Universal Orlando
The most important step to getting ahead of the crowds is booking a stay at one of Universal Orlando’s on-site hotels. We stayed at Terra Luna Resort, one of the new prime value options located just across the street from Epic Universe.

It’s convenient, comfortable, and most importantly, comes with Early Park Admission, a perk exclusive to resort guests. This gives you entry into the park one hour before the public, and that hour can make all the difference.
Step Two: Catch the First Bus to Epic Universe
Resort transportation begins one hour before Early Park Admission, and I highly recommend catching that first bus. Getting to the park early allows you to be among the very first guests through security and waiting at the turnstiles.

Every minute counts when you’re trying to be first in line for one of the most anticipated rides in theme park history.
Step Three: Go Directly to the Ministry of Magic Portal
Once you’re through the gates at Early Park Admission, head straight to the Ministry of Magic portal entrance located in Celestial Park. While it may be tempting to stop and soak in the stunning visuals of this beautiful new land, you’ll want to stay focused.

The Ministry of Magic attraction doesn’t officially open until the park opens to the public, but by lining up during Early Entry, you’re positioning yourself at the very front of the queue.
What to Expect in Line
Even though we got in line early, the ride itself didn’t begin operating until regular park opening time. That meant we still waited close to an hour—but when the ride opened, we were on and off in just nine minutes.

Compare that to wait times that can exceed two or three hours later in the day, and you’ll understand why this strategy is worth the early start.
Things to Keep in Mind
There are some trade-offs to this plan. The Battle at the Ministry ride is a technological marvel with multiple sophisticated ride systems. That also means it’s not uncommon for it to experience technical delays or slow starts. Be prepared for a longer wait if the ride doesn’t open on time.

Additionally, when you’re focused on being first, it’s easy to rush past the beautiful details of Celestial Park and the impressive entrance to the Ministry of Magic. If it’s your first visit, this might feel a bit disappointing—but the good news is that getting the biggest wait time out of the way early frees you up to explore and enjoy the rest of your day at a more relaxed pace.
