A Guide to Dining at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios brings all the excitement when it comes to thrill rides, immersive experiences, and iconic attractions.  Here, dining plays a supporting role in the magic of a Disney vacation. However, this park feels a bit lackluster when it comes to good dining options.  In fact, there are only 5 full-service restaurants inside the park!  In this article I’m ranking the dining choices in Disney’s Hollywood Studios from least favorite to best in my opinion!

First, for any Disney related travel plans, let me encourage you to utilize the service of a travel professional that specializes in Disney Destinations. We’ve looked at the dining options in Magic Kingdom, let’s get started on the choices in Hollywood Studios!

5. Hollywood and Vine

Breakfast: $35/child; $59.99/adult. Lunch and Dinner: $40/child; $63/adult

Echo Lake in Hollywood Studios is home to one character dining experience, Hollywood and Vine.  This buffet style dining choice in Disney’s Hollywood Studios serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with the cast members of Disney Junior.  At special times of the year, guests are also invited to dine with Minnie and her friends.

The food at this restaurant is not bad, it’s simply not memorable.  The price reflects the character dining experience not the quality of the food.  Guests can choose an average array of kid-friendly options while they dance with Doc McStuffins and her friends.

4. 50’s Prime Time Café

Lunch and Dinner: $17-$29/ entrees. (price does not reflect the addition of appetizers, beverages or desserts)

Travel back to Mom’s kitchen in the 1950s at this nostalgic restaurant where comfort food reigns supreme. Diners are treated like family by their “cousins” serving up classic American dishes like meatloaf, fried chicken, and pot roast.

The food is good.  The atmosphere is fun!  However, if you aren’t looking to participate in the antics, you can choose to abstain.  Be prepared for playful teasing from servers who enforce old-fashioned etiquette and might even ask you to set the table or finish your vegetables!

It is a unique experience, and if your party is looking for a more laid back and relaxing meal, this may not be the place for you.

3. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant

Lunch and Dinner: $19-$30/entrees. (price does not reflect the addition of appetizers, beverages, or desserts)

Step back in time to the 1950s and dine under the stars at this unique restaurant designed like a retro drive-in theater. Guests sit in classic cars while enjoying a menu of American comfort food favorites such as burgers, sandwiches, and milkshakes.

The immersive atmosphere at Sci Fi Dine-In Theater comes complete with sci-fi B movie clips playing on a big screen. That makes this dining experience one to remember.  However, it is very dark inside the restaurant to simulate late night, and if sitting with other guests isn’t your thing, you should skip it.

2.  Round Up Rodeo BBQ

Lunch and Dinner: $25/child (3-9 years old); $45/adult

Toy Story Land added a heaping helping of BBQ this past year.  Round-up Rodeo BBQ is Andy’s latest bachyard creation. The restaurant is full of imagination and toys.  This menu is prix fix and includes ribs, chicken, brisket and 3 choices of barbecue sauce.

Guests will be delighted with all the side offerings including mac n cheese. Lastly, dive into mason jars full of dessert!  This restaurant encourages you to get into the spirit of being one of Andy’s toys.  It’s fun and immersive. It also has decent BBQ.  It’s also loud! If you prefer to dine in a quieter atmosphere, this restaurant might overwhelm you.

Hollywood Brown Derby

Lunch and Dinner: $35-$49/entrees. (Price does not include the addition of appetizers, beverages or dessert)

Inspired by the legendary Hollywood landmark, this signature dining experience offers upscale American cuisine in an elegant setting. The restaurant pays homage to the golden era of Hollywood with its sophisticated décor and classic dishes.

This restaurant’s menu includes the famous Cobb Salad and the flavorful Char-grilled Filet of Beef. Guests can also enjoy the iconic grapefruit cake for dessert.  Adult guests are invited to order from the full-service bar where specialty cocktails include a martini flight.

Hollywood Brown Derby serves great food choices.  It’s also on the more expensive side.  If you are not looking to pay more for your dining experience, check out the top snacks in Hollywood Studios.  This park has many quick service locations that serve hearty dishes fast.

When dining in Disney’s Hollywood Studios each restaurant offers its own unique ambiance, cuisine, and charm. This article ranks the options based on my experiences, but each offers a good time and decent food. In addition, guests can choose to book a Fantasmic dining package. Choose one of these restaurants and enjoy a combination meal and reserved seating for the Nighttime Spectacular- Fantasmic.
