Understanding the Universal Express Pass
The first thing to know is that the Universal Express Pass is a separate purchase. It is in addition to your park admission ticket. Pricing is dynamic, meaning it fluctuates based on the date and which park you are visiting.
Express Pass Options
You can tailor your pass to your specific itinerary with several options:

- 1-Day 2-Park: Covers Islands of Adventure (IOA) and Universal Studios Florida (USF).
- 1-Day Single Park: Valid for either USF, IOA, or Epic Universe.
- Multi-Day Express: Options that span IOA, USF, and Epic Universe over several days.
Standard vs. Unlimited
- Standard Express Pass: Allows you to bypass the regular line one time per participating attraction.
- Express Pass Unlimited: Allows you to ride participating attractions as many times as you want.
- The Epic Universe Exception: It is important to note that Express Pass Unlimited is currently not available for Epic Universe.

The Signature Resort Perk
For the best value, you should stay at one of three Universal Signature Resorts. These include Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel®, or Loews Royal Pacific Resort. Guests at these hotels receive Universal Express Pass Unlimited for free. It is valid for IOA and USF. The pass is available for the duration of their stay.

Estimating the Investment: Express Pass Pricing
While exact pricing changes daily, here is a general look at what a family of five (3 adults, 2 kids) might expect to pay during a typical week in early February:
- Epic Universe Express Pass (1 Day): Approximately $1,280.
- IOA & USF Express Pass Unlimited (2 Days): Approximately $1,730.
The VIP Experience: Ultimate Priority Access
If you want a “star quality” experience, the Universal VIP Tour is the gold standard. A Universal Team Member leads these tours. They provide a level of service that goes far beyond skipping lines.

Standard VIP Tours
These are non-private tours for up to 6 people (you may be grouped with other parties).
- Duration: Approximately 7 hours, starting at 9:30 am.
- Perks: Valet parking. Enjoy priority access to at least 10 attractions. Breakfast and lunch provided. Reserved seating at shows. A VIP souvenir lanyard included.
- Bonus: You get a Universal Express Pass to use for the remainder of the day after your tour ends!
- Approximate Cost: Around $350–$515 per person, depending on the park.
Private VIP Tours
For groups of 5 or more, a Private VIP Tour is required. It’s also a popular choice for smaller families. They want total control.
- Customization: You pick the start time and build your own itinerary.
- Exclusives: Includes breakfast, lunch, and a full-service dinner, plus behind-the-scenes experiences and character meet-and-greets.
- Added Value: Includes a 3-day Universal photo package.
- Approximate Cost: A private tour for up to 5 guests ranges from roughly $4,250 to $4,690.

Which Should You Choose?
- Choose Express Pass if: You prefer to move at your own pace. You want to sleep in. You are staying at a Signature Resort where Universal Express Pass Unlimited is included.
- Choose VIP Tour if: You have a “must-do’ list a mile long. You want to learn the secrets of the parks. You want the most stress-free experience possible with meals and parking included.
