If there’s one thing that never stands still at Walt Disney World, it’s the magic. Exciting transformations are happening across all four parks. It feels like every visit brings something new to see. You can taste something different or experience unique things. There are long-awaited refurbishments. Entirely new lands and attractions are also being introduced. Here’s a look at what’s next for Disney World in 2026. It’s the perfect time to start planning your next visit with special promotional savings and discounts.
Tomorrowland is Getting a Glow-Up
Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland is in the middle of a major refresh. Fans of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will be thrilled to know it’s finally getting the attention it deserves. When it reopens in early 2026, expect updated ride vehicles with handheld blasters. There will be new show scenes and even a brand-new character. Buddy is a friendly robot who will greet guests as they join Buzz to battle the Evil Emperor Zurg.

This shooter-style attraction has been a longtime favorite. Competitive guests love it as they aim for the highest score possible. They also chase those famous Galactic Hero bragging rights. With improved visibility, smoother motion, and more interactive targets, this refurbishment is sure to bring fresh energy to the experience.
Meanwhile, Carousel of Progress is set for its own round of updates soon. This ride is one of Walt Disney’s most classic creations. Details are still under wraps. Yet, we do know it will feature a new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic. It is similar to the impressive one recently added to Disneyland’s Main Street Opera House.
A New Stand and Light Show
Nearby, the Cool Ship snack stand is being reimagined. It is known for its fun rocket design. It also has a misting feature. It’s being reconstructed with a new look. Hopefully, the refreshing mist will return!

And over at TRON Lightcycle / Run, guests are now enjoying a special Tron: Ares overlay. It features striking red lighting and a Nine Inch Nails soundtrack. This creates an atmospheric nod to the upcoming Tron: Ares film.
Adventure and Change in Frontierland
Big changes are coming to the west side of Magic Kingdom. The Rivers of America have been completely drained. This makes way for construction on Piston Peak National Park. It is inspired by the beauty of America’s National Parks. It is also themed around the Cars universe. This new area will feature a Car Rally Race attraction. Furthermore, the area will connect Frontierland with Liberty Square. This blends history and exploration into one seamless land.

The beloved Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is also being reimagined with new interior scenes. These scenes are rumored to feature colorful, dynamic visuals. A storyline suggests the mountain itself is fighting back against gold miners. The updated version is expected to open in late 2026.
Even Cinderella Castle will be part of the park’s next chapter. It will return to a color palette closer to its original look — soft creams, blues, and grays.
A Wild Transformation at Animal Kingdom
Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Tree of Life Theater is debuting Zootopia: Better Zoogether on November 7. This coincides with the release of Zootopia 2. This 4D show replaces It’s Tough to Be a Bug. It follows Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and Officer Clawhauser. They celebrate “Zoogether Day” across the biomes of Zootopia. Fans can also meet Nick and Judy on Discovery Island for the first time ever!

Meanwhile, Dinoland U.S.A. will officially close on February 2, 2026, to make room for the upcoming Tropical Americas expansion. Expect lush environments, new dining options, and a complete reimagining of the area. During construction, Harambe Market will temporarily offer an American-inspired menu. Think burgers and fries. It will return to its African flavors once work wraps up.
Big Moves at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios is embracing the magic of moviemaking once again. The area formerly known as Animation Courtyard will be reimagined as Walt Disney Studios. This transformation celebrates the artistry and history of Disney animation. The redesign will include a family-friendly playground. It will also feature a new Disney Junior show. Additionally, there will be a refreshed animation experience that pays homage to Disney’s roots in Burbank, California.

Elsewhere in the park, construction is well underway on Monstropolis, a Monsters, Inc.-themed land featuring Disney’s first suspended indoor roller coaster — a thrilling addition for fans of Mike and Sulley!

And in a fun twist, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will soon reopen as a Muppets-themed ride. Guests will still race through the streets of Hollywood, this time helping Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem make it to their biggest concert ever. Expect the same fast-paced thrills with a healthy dose of Muppet whimsy when it debuts in Summer 2026.
Epcot: Evolving the Future
Epcot continues to evolve with both small and large changes. Spaceship Earth is temporarily closed for updates. There is no reopening date yet. Meanwhile, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will undergo a short closure (November 10–13). This closure is to remove its 3D elements, making it a 2D experience for improved comfort and clarity.

It was also announced that Soarin’ in the Land pavilion will get a new itinerary. Soarin’ at Disney’s California Adventure will have the same update. “Soarin’ Over America” will debut summer of 2026 in honor of the country’s semiquincetennial celebration.

Festival lovers can also look ahead to the International Festival of the Holidays beginning November 28. This will be followed by the Epcot International Festival of the Arts, which runs from January 16–February 16, 2026.
