Mid-January to Early February

Following the festive holiday season at Disney World, mid-January to early February is often considered the least crowded time to go. Many families have just returned to work and school.

This lull in attendance offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy shorter wait times.  Additionally, the weather in central Florida during this time is usually mild and pleasant, making it an ideal period for exploration.

Late April to Early May

Another period of relative calm at Disney World occurs during late April and early May.  Spring break is over and summer vacation is still a few weeks away.  Attendance tends to dip during this time.

Visitors can take advantage of lighter crowds, allowing for more time to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the parks. The beautiful floral displays during the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, one of 4 annual festivals at Epcot, also add an extra touch of magic to this period.

Late August to Early November

As schools resume after summer break, the period from late August to early November provides an excellent opportunity to visit Disney World.  This timeframe falls between major holidays.

Families are typically less likely to plan trips then due to school commitments.  Furthermore, the Halloween and fall-themed events, such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, provide an added layer of excitement and make for an unforgettable experience.

The only downside of this time of year is the heat and the potential for hurricanes.  If you are sensitive to very high temperatures, you may be uncomfortable visiting during the early part of this timeframe.  In addition, be aware that Disney operations may be postponed in the event of SEVERE weather. Weekdays Outside of School Breaks

If your schedule permits, visiting Disney World on weekdays outside of major school breaks can significantly reduce the number of fellow visitors. Choosing to go when schools are in session can help ensure more manageable crowds and a generally more relaxed atmosphere.  Planning your visit during the shoulder seasons can also be advantageous in avoiding peak times.

Extra Magic Hours

Another way to enjoy Disney World with fewer crowds is by taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours. These special extended operating hours are exclusively available to guests staying at select Disney Resort hotels.

All Disney owned resorts on property offer guests early park entry to the theme parks. One of the perks of being a guest at Disney’s deluxe level resorts and Villas is extended magic hours. This allows guests to stay in select parks on select nights beyond closing.
